Chilton Trinity School is an inclusive 11-16 comprehensive LEA School which serves both the town and rural areas to the North and West of Bridgwater. Since it opened in 1966, it has expanded steadily and has achieved an excellent record of success, developing student' talents in every respect.
Our aim is to ensure that our students achieve their best academically and that their education is further-enriched through the Arts (most notable our annual school productions), sporting activities and through the wide range of other extra-curricular opportunities provided by staff and members of the community.
We believe that children's education is best achieved through a partnership between the family, the student and school working together in a positive way. We encourage our students to learn from and in their community - locally, nationally and globally. There is a carefully planned programme of visits and experiences including, for example, subject study trips, Activities Week (which includes Year 8 camp), e-mailing pen-pals, participating in student exchange programmes with France, Germany and America, etc.
We also encourage our students to make a commitment to their community by taking on responsibility - for example, being a Year 9 Ambassador and supporting Year 6 children transferring from primary school. Many students in Years 10 and 11 take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and their community service involves them in a wide range of local organisations and groups.
In June 1999 we once again received the Sportsmark Award in recognition of the excellent programme of physical education and sport which is available to our students and in January 2000 received a Sports Lottery grant to establish an all-weather pitch on the school site.
Ours is a happy school in which students are challenged, in a positive way, to make the most of their ability and the wide range of opportunities for learning which are available to them.
