Royal Marine Band

Once again, the Rotary Club of Glastonbury and Street are delighted to have secured the services of the Band of ‘Her Majesty’s Royal Marines.

The Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines is one of five Royal Marines Bands based around the United Kingdom. It can trace its direct historical lineage to 1767.

Royal Marines Band musical training is over 2 years long, during which time the trainees craft their musical and drill prowess.  On entry to the RM Band the trainees spend a two week induction period at the Royal Marines School of Music at HMS Nelson in Portsmouth.  However before they begin their Band training they need to earn the “Royal Marines” part of their title and they do this by spending 13 weeks at the Lympstone training base doing military training.

Tickets £22.

St. Margaret’s Hospice Community Coffee Morning

St. Margaret’s Hospice is very grateful to North Petherton residents for voting for us in the Tesco Bags of Help scheme.  The grant is making it possible to develop ‘community champions’ for the hospice in the North Petherton area – people who understand the activities that the hospice undertakes, who can assist us in dispelling some of the myths and misconceptions about our service, which may prevent residents from taking advantage of our free service.
You are invited to join us at our free Coffee Morning, where you will hear from our guest speaker, James Morrow about the service that he and his family received from the Hospice, plus a short presentation from our clinical staff, about the many services we provide, including our ‘Hospice at Home’ work. Find out how our wonderful volunteers help us, from offering as little as just an hour of their time a year, having a home collecting pot, or joining their local community fundraising group, which assists us raise the £26,000 daily that we need to keep our services available to the Somerset Community.
